Our responsibilities are to grow the fund with strategic senior housing real estate developments and acquisitions for the benefit of our investors. The executive management team will ensure regular communications with the fund’s investors, along with proper oversight of financials and operations. The Principals have over 80 years of combined experience in senior housing, healthcare operations and real estate, and have acquired, developed and/or financed over $1 billion in healthcare transactions.
Chief Executive Officer & Principal
Luke Lee currently serves as Chief Executive Officer and Principal for Inspired Healthcare Capital. As CEO, Luke is responsible for the strategic growth and vision of the fund, and establishing operational priorities and providing leadership that will promote effective overall management of the fund. Luke is also a member of the Investment Committee for Inspired Healthcare Capital.
Luke has over 20 years of experience as a finance and real estate professional with a focus in acquisition, financing, valuation and analysis of healthcare real estate assets. Prior to his role at Inspired Healthcare Capital, Luke was a Vice President of Capital Markets at Transwestern where he was a healthcare consultant to private equity funds, REITs, operators and developers. Preceding Transwestern, Luke served as Vice President of Acquisitions at Carter Validus Mission Critical REIT and as Acquisitions Manager at Healthcare Trust of America REIT (HTA), a publicly traded REIT. While working in the REIT industry, Luke sourced and closed over $700 million in acquisitions, where he was responsible for building Argus models, underwriting acquisition opportunities and managing the due diligence process.
Prior to HTA, Luke earned his appraisal license as a valuation manager at CB Richard Ellis, providing valuation and advisory services for existing and proposed commercial properties including retail, office, multifamily, industrial, hotels and special-use projects. Additionally, Luke achieved his CPA designation during his tenure at Ernst & Young, LLP, where he was early promoted to a manager within the firm’s Real Estate Advisory Group. Luke began his career at Raymond James as a financial analyst, where he attained his Series 7 and 63 licenses.
Luke received a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Arizona State University and a Master’s degree in Accountancy from the University of Notre Dame, where he graduated with honors.

Chief Financial Officer & Principal
Jacob Schaefer currently serves as Chief Financial Officer and Principal for Inspired Healthcare Capital. As CFO, Jake is responsible for executing the financial and operational strategy of the fund and ensuring proper corporate governance is in place. Jacob is also a member of the Investment Committee for Inspired Healthcare Capital.
Jacob Schaefer started working in the construction industry in 2002 for a family business. He then gained great knowledge in the field of Senior Housing as an associate appraiser at Tellatin, Short & Hansen, Inc. During his time with the firm he completed over 70 valuation or market analysis reports, focusing primarily on proposed construction projects being financed by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). In 2008, Jacob joined Santé, a post-acute care real estate development and operations company, and still serves as Chief Financial Officer. Jacob provided Santé with financial guidance and was integral with the market and site selection, preliminary due diligence, entitlements, and design of Santé’s transitional rehabilitation centers. Jacob has a thorough understanding of real estate financial analysis, discounted cash flow analysis, market analysis, HUD MAP and LEAN financing programs, and has been instrumental in setting up systems for ongoing project budgeting, forecasting, and management, allowing for ease of expansion and ongoing development tasks.
Jacob graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance from Linfield College.
Investment Committee Chair & Principal
Mark Hansen is a Principal and currently serves as Investment Committee Chair for Inspired Healthcare Capital. As Investment Committee Chair, Mark is responsible for evaluating the investment performance of the fund’s portfolio, along with ensuring investments and dispositions by the fund are prudent and effective and meet the investment guidelines set in place by the Investment Committee.
Mark has specialized in senior housing and healthcare since 1995. In 2008, Mark led the creation of Santé, a post-acute care real estate development and operations company. Mark also currently serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Santé and assembled the team, business plan and financial backing for this start-up, which currently serves over 8,000 seniors annually with over 1,100 leaders and associates dedicated to putting people first and improving the lives of seniors.
In addition, Mark was also a Principal of the firm Tellatin, Short and Hansen, Inc., an industry leader in market studies, feasibility studies and valuations for senior housing and healthcare throughout the United States. Mark assisted senior housing and healthcare operators, developers and senior housing and healthcare financial institutions with strategic planning, market and feasibility analysis and other strategic operation initiatives as a Principal of this firm.
Mark graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Oregon.
Executive Vice President, Underwriting & Reimbursement Analytics
Sterling Short is a Principal and currently serves as Executive Vice President of Underwriting and Reimbursement Analytics. As Executive Vice President of Underwriting and Reimbursement Analytics, Sterling is responsible for underwriting of investments and accounting for market demand and forecasting revenue including Medicaid and Medicare reimbursements, when applicable.
Sterling has specialized in senior housing and healthcare since 1993. In 2008, Sterling co-founded Santé, a post-acute care real estate development and operations company. Sterling also currently serves as Santé’s Executive Vice President of Strategic Planning, where he oversees the tactical business plan for Santé, including a complete post-acute care delivery network. Under his leadership and business plan, Santé became an Awardee Convener under Center of Medicare and Medicaid Services’ Bundled Payments Care Improvement (BPCI) Initiative Model 3 Program, which has provided Sante substantial financial gains. Additionally, Sterling played an integral role in the development of five state-of-the-art transitional rehabilitation facilities by working closely with architects and creating detailed schematic designs.
In addition, Sterling was also a former Principal of Tellatin, Short & Hansen, Inc., an industry leader in market studies, feasibility studies and valuations for senior housing and healthcare throughout the United States. His Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement expertise enabled the firm to boast an incomparable reputation as the leading appraisal firm in the nation specializing in seniors housing and care facilities. In total, Sterling has appraised over 2,000 seniors housing facilities. The appraisals functioned as support for clients in financing, litigation support, bankruptcy proceedings, and internal review.
Sterling is designated as an MAI by the Appraisal Institute. In 1987, Mr. Short earned his undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and English, from Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri.
Director of Acquisitions & Investment
Brad currently serves as Director of Acquisitions and Investment for Inspired Healthcare Capital. Brad is responsible for business development along with underwriting investment opportunities.
Brad entered the senior housing and healthcare real estate industry in 2003 with Tellatin, Short and Hansen, Inc., a prominent firm focused on providing market studies, financial feasibility studies and valuations for senior housing and healthcare real estate throughout the United States. Brad served as the Director of West Coast Operations for Tellatin, Short and Hansen, Inc. from 2011 to 2016. In his time as the Director of West Coast Operations, Brad completed more than 300 market studies, feasibility studies and valuations. A majority of these analyses involved assisting senior housing and healthcare real estate owners, developers and operators with strategic planning, such as market identification for proposed senior housing and healthcare real estate, detailed supply and demand analyses and financial feasibility analyses. Brad later joined Santé and oversees its acquisitions and investments.
Brad graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Science from Washington State University in 2003.
Gregory Ficek currently serves as Corporate Controller for Inspired Healthcare Capital. Greg is responsible for managing cash flow and all accounting functions of the fund, working closely with the CFO to ensure fiscal stability and compliance.
Greg started working in public accounting in 2003 with Grove, Mueller and Swank, P.C., an Oregon based CPA firm. In his eight years with the firm Greg participated in both tax and audit engagements, focusing on HUD and bank required audits for senior living and real estate industries. Additionally, Greg was involved in municipal engagements, which exposed him to governmental fund accounting and compliance.
After leaving public accounting as an audit senior in 2011, Greg joined Santé, a post-acute care real estate development and operations company, and still serves as Corporate Controller. Shortly after joining the Santé team, Greg was heavily involved in transitioning the operations of the Arizona skilled nursing facilities away from a third-party to what would become Santé Operations. As part of this process, Greg led the development of the financial and cash management policies and procedures. Greg was also responsible for managing and overseeing all cash related components of the Santé network, including real estate development, as well as financial statement preparation and loan compliance.
Greg graduated from Western Oregon University with a Bachelor of Science Degree focused in Accounting and continues to be a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the State of Oregon.
Courtney Tragasz currently serves as Operations Coordinator for Inspired Healthcare Capital. Courtney is responsible for marketing, hosting events, and operations.
Courtney has hosted charity events including a fundraiser for Prevent Child Abuse America, in which she raised over $17,000. In addition to her passion for helping those in need, Courtney is an art enthusiast and is a very gifted painter and artist.
Courtney is currently working towards her Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences at Arizona State University.
